My Grandmas Advice

While doing something for a class last week some old memories came flooding back. Here is some words from my Grandma I thought I would share:

- Try to get gold jewelry from everyone you date for every occasion you can. When you are old it makes a good  nest egg.

-When you get old don't put anything in a purse that can not be replaced, always keep your money in your bra, if someone has the balls to go in after it at least you get a thrill.

The one I try to follow..." Live life to the fullest, don't regret any choices you make. Those choices, good and bad, define who you are today"

And the advise I hold to my heart. "If someone doesn't love you for you, then don't waste your time."

Untruth

"Do not just glance at me and let yourself guess the truth, sometimes what your eyes perceive  is nothing but an untruth."

Walking slowly arm in arm up the sidewalk to the school she wasn't aware of the glances and nudges, the nodding of heads as if to nonchalantly point with out being noticed, and I love that about her. Shes not the type to care or pay attention to what people think about her, the way she looks or the fact she shaved her head. She says it's for her reasons not for anyone else. I am the same in that manner, because I realize we all need to make ourselves happy to bring happiness to others. Although unlike her I do notice little things, I guess I pay attention to others around me, sort of a people watcher.
She throws her arms around me and plants a kiss on my cheek. I smile, it is the best feeling in the world, the looks continue. The giggles. The stares.

You would think in this day and age that people would not react this way. Who cares what other people do in their life, it's not your life is it?

Regardless what anyone perceives to be the truth I will not change my actions, I will walk by her side everyday, I will kiss her cheek and smile like I am in heaven, I will love this girl with all I am, after all she is my Daughter!!
Just because something looks one way, does not mean anything. Be careful what your eyes see they can trick the brain!

Going out to Eat... Do's and don'ts

So, as a waitress here are some points for both customers and servers to look at.
As a customer, please know that servers depend on tips to make a living, most servers here in Michigan only earn $2.65 and hour plus tips as their pay. The tip amount should be based on several factors and not on others. An average tip where I work is 20 percent and that is the base I go off of when I myself go out to eat. You should not lower your tip because your steak wasn't the right temp, that is the cooks mistake and if you speak up a good server will fix most any issue you have with that aspect, you should however lower your tip if your food came out and it was not what you ordered, that was a server mistake.
Please don't assume because it is taking a minute for your server to bring your food that they are slow, sometimes you may not realize there are to go orders and maybe even a large order from another area of the restaurant that was in before yours. On the other hand if you see your server standing around talking to other staff goofing off and your drink has been empty for minutes that is your servers fault.

Please also take note that in a lot of restaurants each server is limited during diner as to how many tables they are allowed to have at once, from my experience it is usually around 3 or 4 and it doesn't matter if you are done but still sitting and talking your table still counts. So if you want to just go in and have a drink and maybe a side of fries and catch up with a friend that's fine but, then you should tip based on time taken. If you take up a seat for 2 hours and only spend five to ten dollars then a $2 tip is not proper, but in that same manner your server should treat even the smallest order the same as the most expensive, after all you are still a customer and deserve the same attention.

One more note to pass on in alot of places a small tip effects the server more than you may know. Most places a server does not keep all of the tips at the end of the night they have to do whats called a "Tip Out" where they have to give a percent to the bartender, host, buser, and kitchen staff, even though those people make more hourly.

Overview

This is my first blog, and I really wasn't sure what to write about, so I have decided I will write about the things I encounter in my everyday life. My posts could be anything from, things my kids say or do (I have 4 plus 1 so that in itself could take up all day), to things I see or hear while out doing my day to day activities (which being a divorced, single mom, with a boyfriend, a full time job and attending school full time) is A LOT of activities.

As a waitress, who works all sorts of open to public banquets, most of my posts will probably come from things that I see, hear or experience from there. Everything from Music to Politics (which I do not normally discuss).
